Louie Louie

January 19, 2010

Here’s work from one of my favorite artists, Travis Louie. He’s so outstandingly talented and hence, I’m thoroughly jealous of him. His portraits are so painstakingly detailed that these once hideous monsters are made to look charming and beautiful. They have a very historic feel to them, like looking at old duaggerotypes of bizarre portraits.

One of these days, I would love to work with Travis Louie!

you asked for it!

For those of you who haven’t, but would still love to pick up a copy of ‘The Seed”, the book is now available on-line at Amazon and Lulu.com, and in store at Echo Curio and the Autry National Center. Hooray for the Seed!

“Merry Christmas!” said the tree

December 23, 2009

“Happy Holidays!” said my Christmas tree, who loves candy canes and a nice window view. Hope you all have a good one!

I see you!

A few pictures from the book launch at Echo Curio, which was an overwhelming success! A hundred or so people attended and almost 50 books were sold and signed ! I only took photos for the first 30 minute (oops!), but thank you to everyone who came out. It was perfect! A special thanks to Grant and Justin at Echo Curio for hosting our launch. Also a big thank you to Chuck for playing very Christmas-y music and getting everyone in the spirit to shop!

The book will be available for sale at Echo Curio, so stop by and pick up a copy! xo

London, Heather, and Me

November 23, 2009

I’m heading to London on Wednesday for the solo show of my friend, Heather Cantrell, at MOTInternational. She recently showed at the Kinkead Gallery in Culver City with well-deserved success. Alas, for those of you who are lucky enough to be in London for the opening on November 27th, count yourself blessed. Heather’s work is absolutely beautiful.

Greetings from Mr. Willington

November 11, 2009

Here is a work of mine that currently hangs right above my piano. I named him Mr. Willington, and he seems very happy…although his stance has always raised lots of questions. You’re an unpredictable one, Mr. Willington!

I wrote a series of stories for a book, which never made it to the publishing house. So, I decided to put the stories onto tote bags. I did illustrations for them and placed them on the front, with my story on the back. I figured when you were out and ’bout and wanted something to read, you could just read your bag! All the bags are hand-screened by me on 100% cotton totes. I still have a few more available, so if anyone wants one, let me know!

Camel Toe

October 29, 2009

What you’re seeing is real. It’s a camel toe and, in many ways, perhaps the most perfect camel toe I’ve ever seen. It has not been photoshopped or altered, and ‘Yes’, after we took the photo, this man was able to walk normal again. (Hi, Dan!). A few of us were such big fans, my friend and superb artist, Chris Pate, drew a drawing of it so we could fully understand and appreciate what we were seeing. Thanks, Chris!
